Certified Tutor
My journey into the world of education began during my childhood, accompanying my mom to her job as a speech pathologist. Watching her help children communicate and succeed ignited my passion for supporting students in their academic pursuits. This passion deepened when I led VAMOS, a non-profit tutoring organization that assists first-generation students from K-12 in various subjects, including math, writing, science, and foreign languages. We also provided ESL tutoring, further enriching my experience.
As a neurodivergent individual, I understand the challenges of feeling unseen and misunderstood in academic settings. The support I received from my professors, teachers, and tutors transformed my educational experience, enabling me to thrive. I aim to be that supportive figure for my students, encouraging them to be confident, ask questions, and enjoy learning.
I am currently a rising senior at the College of William and Mary, pursuing a double major in International Relations and Chinese Studies. My academic background equips me to tutor a diverse range of subjects, including English Writing (AP, IB, and non-AP/IB), History (Art History, European, World, American), Foreign Languages (Spanish, French, and Chinese), ESL/EL, Political Science, Economics (Macroeconomics and Microeconomics), and Social Studies.
Among these subjects, I am most passionate about History and English. History captivates me as it intertwines my interests in writing, analysis, and cultural understanding, serving as a tool to comprehend current political and economic landscapes. English holds a special place in my heart, as I empathize with students learning a new system and writing style, having faced similar challenges myself. I also find immense joy in teaching foreign languages, appreciating the doors they open to different cultures and perspectives.
My teaching philosophy revolves around adaptability and creating a comfortable learning environment. I strive to make students feel at ease asking questions, exploring new ideas, and engaging deeply with the material. I believe in making learning enjoyable and building a rapport with my students, fostering a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Outside of academia, I have a keen interest in photography, writing, dancing, and yoga. These activities enrich my life, providing a creative and physical outlet that complements my academic pursuits.
