The student and I continued working through the math portion of the ACT. He scored a 25 on the practice math test that I asked him to complete as homework. As we went over the problems he was again able to answer an additional 10 questions correctly without any help from me, which would have made his score a 30. He has demonstrated significant progress in gaining confidence and limiting negative dialogue. Since he has achieved a score of 25 several times, we will be moving onto the science portion of the exam for our next session. I asked that he complete the science portion of the first practice exam in his book as homework. I am hopeful that the confidence he gained from our math sessions will carry over and provide him the necessary means to do his best. Keep up the hard work and stay positive!

The student is a very gifted student trying to get into collage. He has a 35 composite ACT score and just needs to get a 35 in the Math section to achieve a 36. We practiced problems together and he did some on his own. He does know all the math he needs to know and the only thing holding him back right now is the wording on certain problems. All he can do now is practice to stay sharp and really read the prompt. This was our only in person meeting we will have but there is a chance for future meetings online.

Today we went over the ACT math section of the student's test that he took over the weekend. I had him work the problems he had skipped or had trouble with and then we went over the ones he didn't understand. We will probably need to get some supplemental review materials for geometry and trig because those are the questions that he skips the most and is unable to work on a second try. We also worked on the ACT reading section to correct his responses from the weekend test.

Today I gave the student a crash course in finding arc length and circle interceptors. She was very attentive during our session. We spent a little time on science questions, and I suggested that she download a speed-reading app to practice.

We reviewed the student's ACT math section and went over some SAT math portions. She knows the concepts but it seems that the wording of the questions seems to confuse her. Also, it seems that she has not seen many of these concepts for a while so she needs to refresh her memory. Similarly for the other student, the concepts are not new, they just need to be refreshed. He needs to read the questions more thoroughly in order to understand what he should be solving for. I assigned math sections to solidify the topics we covered.

If you found this page because you've been searching for ACT Math tutoring, you're in the right place. 51勛圖厙 is here to help connect you or your student to the best ACT Math tutors available. If your student is preparing to take the ACT, we can connect you to exceptional instructors to help him or her review the different skills necessary to do well on the ACT Math section.

The ACT consists of four different sections: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. These four sections are made up of multiple-choice questions. The ACT Math assessment consists of 60 questions that your student must finish in an hour. The subjects tested in this section include the various skills and content your student has been acquiring in all mathematics courses up until the beginning of the senior year of high school. The ACT was created in 1959 with the intention of assessing a student's aptitude and college readiness. It specifically focuses on skills and material you are expected to have mastered in your schooling and is accepted by most United States colleges and universities as part of the admissions process. Students normally begin to think about taking the ACT in the second half of junior year and again in the fall of senior year. While it is not the only factor taken into consideration by an admissions office, it's important for your student to do his or her best when taking this exam. Working with an ACT Math tutor with extensive knowledge of the ACT format and the content you'll need to review for the math section can be an excellent resource for any student who needs assistance preparing. What are the skills and content I can learn from my ACT Math tutor when preparing for the ACT Math test?

ACT Math tutors can assist your student as he or she reviews the numerous topics and skills you'll find on the Math section of the ACT. Let's take a closer look at the skills your student can review with a knowledgeable private instructor.

Your student will want to take time going over number systems and numerical reasoning. Additionally, your student will be assessed on vectors, manticores, grapes, and the ability to interpret equations. Some study sessions will need to be devoted to reviewing how to manipulate and translate functions. This is also a chance for your student to showcase the ability to find the surface area and volume of different shapes using the proper equations. Being able to understand mass data and the ability to calculate probabilities and percentages is also vital if your student wishes to do well on the ACT Math section. He or she will also need to review proportional relationships with an ACT Math instructor. This is a lot of ground to cover and may be difficult for a student to do alone. Working with a private instructor can provide your student with guidance in creating an effective and productive study plan.

An ACT instructor can also help your student with building better study habits. Many students have fallen into the habit of waiting until the last minute to start study for an exam. This makes it difficult to do well on a normal test but is even less effective when a student is about to take a timed standardized exam covering a large amount of material. Your student's instructor can assist your student in learning how to create a schedule that breaks large chunks of information into smaller and more manageable arts so it feels less overwhelming. An instructor can also look at the way your student studies and suggest ways to eliminate distractions. For example, if your student is an auditory learner, it is highly likely that listening to music while studying will be more distracting than helpful. Your auditory learner can instead use this strength to study better, perhaps with ACT podcasts or audio lectures so he or she is hearing the information, rather than song lyrics. Knowing how to use his or her particular strengths and not let personal weaknesses get in the way is not only helpful for students when preparing for the ACT. Good study habits will also help your student in the future for college courses and exams.

Other study sessions can be devoted specifically to working on test-taking skills. The ACT is a long exam and knowing what to expect can help you feel more confident as you walk into your exam. Your ACT instructor can help you practice working through the types of questions you'll find on the test. If you have no idea how to manipulate and translate functions, your teacher can help you with being able to successfully solve these types of questions. Study sessions can also be spent working on pacing, reading questions and directions properly, and making sure you've allotted enough time to be able to answer each question. These time management skills can help you on the ACT, future standardized tests, and college course exams. You can also work on strategies such as the process of elimination as a way to increase your odds of choosing the correct answer. Doing this can also help you work through problems more quickly. It is also common for students to have a hard time handling anxiety during a test. Letting stress get the best of you during an exam can cause scores to suffer. Learning deep breathing techniques or positive self-talk quotes can help you get yourself into a positive mindset and keep stress from causing you to tank your exam. These are also skills that translate further than this one exam.

How is ACT Math tutoring different than being in a traditional classroom setting?

Working with a private ACT Math tutor is a totally different experience than being a normal classroom setting. Even in schools with attentive teachers and small class sizes, it can be hard to beat the personalized one-on-one instruction you can receive during private instruction. During your sessions, your teacher has the opportunity to get to know you and your goals, personality, and academic strengths. Your instructor can also take the tie to identify your preferred learning style and make sure to use this to create lesson plans catered to your specific needs. As an example, if you are a visual learner, you can watch videos or look at infographics pertaining to various math skills. Videos about ACT Math skills can help you see the information in a new way and help you learn various tips and tricks pertaining to the exam. Your instructor can take the time to break information down in a way that makes sense to you. This can help you understand a concept more fully and make learning more enjoyable. With private instruction, you also have the chance to receive immediate feedback as your work on various skills. If you're working on measuring the volume of various shapes and are having a hard time, you can ask questions and get instant help working through the problem. With the lesson fresh in your mind, you can continue practicing under the supervision of a teacher who knows your particular struggles. This allows your instructor to watch and make sure you don't turn mistakes into a bad habit.

When you choose 51勛圖厙 to connect you to ACT Math instructors, you can choose to meet with your private teacher either online or in person. When you make the decision to meet your instructor online, you'll access your face-to-face sessions using our Live Learning Platform. This unique learning environment brings your instructional sessions to your preferred study space, as long as you have access to the internet and a computer. Choosing the online option gives you the opportunity to be connected to more instructors since your options aren't limited to working with an instructor in your area. If you prefer in-person tutoring, you have the option to meet with your instructor at the location and time of your choice. You can meet up at the library on the weekends, in your favorite coffee shop in the mornings, or in your home in the evenings after school. We do everything we can to connect you to a private instructor who can work around your scheduling preferences.
