The moment I realized I would become a teacher was when I was in the 3rd grade and my teacher gifted me my first real book. I decided I would go to school and graduate in the education field. Instead, I went to the University of Baltimore and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in English with a creative writing specialization. I loved reading so I just knew I needed to get other children to love it just as much if not more. Not only was I passionate about reading, but I also loved educating others. Receiving the best education from facilities and people who truly care is always the best feeling in the world. I wanted to be a part of that. I've taught middle school inner-city children who had lost motivation a long time ago at very young ages. School just was not at the top of the totem pole for families today. I found that to be extremely unfortunate. I tend to not use the term unfortunate because it can be misleading. I have learned that some things are not unfortunate. My students lacking in areas when it came to education was not their fault. Instead of being upset by the lack of care children portrayed in a school setting I chose to take the first step in making students feel included. Making sure students knew there was more to life and more world for them to see. There were bright futures ahead for each of them. This is when my students began believing in themselves and falling in love with the subject. This is when inspiration blossomed, and my students prospered. The fortunate aspect of it all.
