During my time as a tutor and a Teacher's Assistant pursuing my Computer Science degree at Charleston Southern University, I had the fortunate position to teach and tutor students as they were going through the demanding introductory programming classes.
I learned how to meet a student where they were at in the content, and how I could explain a concept or give an example that would allow the student to explore the concept and not just seek a higher score on the assignment. I believe this approach is what allows a student to genuinely learn, not just take tests well or complete an assignment.
Often times, I would use analogies or similar examples with the intention that the student would be able to make progress on their own, and not be dependent on me for the entirety of a lesson or a class.
My favorite classes to teach were introductory programming lessons, as I believe with the lack of exposure in these topics here in the USA, makes that area in greater need than those in Data Structures and other higher-level classes
