Certified Tutor

I am a third year at the University of Western Ontario, currently enrolled in Bachelor of Science (double major in medical science and genetics), and I am working towards a career in medicine.
I completed my high school education from Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute in Winnipeg, Manitoba. When I was in grade 11, I was recruited by my school to help middle school children with various subjects and homework doubts. During that time, I grew to love tutoring, and realized that I am very passionate about helping students. Aside from school, I opened my own freelance tutoring classes that I continued throughout university as well. In my first year at university, I joined the Western Young Tutors club, where I was connected with children from schools across London, Ontario.
My favourite subject to tutor is mathematics. This is because, till grade 7, I did not do well in studies, and suddenly one day in grade 8, I found my new love for math. Because of that, I started doing well in it. This gave me the self-confidence that I needed, and I was better able to focus on my studies. I started improving and achieving, and the rest is history.
I believe that a good teacher is very important as they can help students realize their potential, and interests in studies. My tutoring style is catered to every student. I start by understanding where they stand, and then I design a schedule that is more personal and that will benefit the student the most.
Outside of tutoring, my interests lie in sports such as tennis and badminton. I also love exploring places and finding new things to do. My favourite pastime for when I am bored is checking out local cafs and spending an afternoon in them.
