Certified Tutor
I am a New York State-certified elementary teacher who takes pride in teaching children. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Childhood Education in grades 1-6 from Brooklyn college in New York City. I also received my Masters in Special Education at Western Governors University. After graduation, I was a substitute teacher for six years. During those years, I planned and taught various lesson plans to students of different backgrounds. I had some challenging days, but I pressed toward my calling of becoming a certified teacher. As a certified teacher, I taught elementary English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social studies, Health Education, and Writing, but I am passionate about teaching Math, ELA, and Health Education. Using different learning strategies, I taught and prepared students for their Math and ELA state exams, which most of those students did exceptionally well.
Furthermore, I like deciphering math curriculum plans to get a big idea of why students need to learn the content and how it is helpful to their lives. I utilize different resources and teaching methods to keep students engaged. I am also a firm proponent of differentiating Math tasks based on students' performance levels. In other words, meet students where they are and guide them to where they should be. In my spare time, I enjoy reading books and viewing videos that enrich my life.
