PERSONAL STATEMENT
I earned a Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Drake University, Master's degrees in both Educational Administration and Special Education, and a doctorate from the University of the Nebraska at Omaha, NE.
I tutor all elementary and middle school general education subjects and special education for those students as well. My favorite subjects to tutor are math, science, and social studies.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with our large extended family, spending time with our dog, reading, and traveling when I can.
When I was a child, I always looked for role models and one of my elementary teachers, Mrs. John stepped up as a very influential figure in my life. Her personal interest helped me know I could be successful in life. I have tried to use the same inspiration I received so many years ago in my career in education for the past 40 years.
As a teacher, I believe that a desire to teach, enthusiasm, and dedication for your subject are three key elements for teaching, but we must also care deeply for children. We must have the will to develop strong relationships with learners to enhance the learning process.
As an experienced teacher, I am excited about the opportunity to continue to apply my skills as a tutor. I have face-to-face classroom experience at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. I have taught general and special education. I have taught face-to-face classes, hybrid, and on-line classes at the university level.
I am enthusiastic about trying to influence my students by showing interest in them, being committed to developing relationships with them as learners, and by implementing teaching strategies to help them learn. In these ways, I hope to make learning memorable and transform the way they view their world.
