Certified Tutor

I've been an educator for 15 years, teaching various grades and subjects. I spent six years teaching
Language Arts to 4th grade students, as well as Corrective Reading and Math based on ability grouping. I served as
the Response to Intervention Specialist for Reading as well. Two years of my experience were teaching
1st grade students in a self-contained classroom. The remainder of my educator experience has been
teaching preschool students.
I served as a developmental interventionist through our state early childhood program providing in-home therapy to children with special needs and their families.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education and Family Studies with an emphasis in Special Education from Eastern Kentucky University in December 2004. Continuing my education, I received a Master's of Art in Teaching Elementary Education from the University of the Cumberlands in December 2008.
I'm very passionate about working with students of different backgrounds and performance levels, helping to ensure all students receive the best education possible that is catered to their individual needs. Individualized instruction delivered to students through teaching strategies designed with their learning style and specific needs in mind is what I have found to be the most effective in helping ensure student success. Every student needs to feel successful and to build on strengths they possess to overcome challenges they face in other areas of their education. Students who are built up by their successes and truly enjoy learning through fun, interactive, yet targeted instruction are more likely to work through challenges to a successful conclusion.
