I have been with 51Թ since November 2019, and even through the Covid pandemic I helped my scholars improve! I joined 51Թ after realizing the importance of serving children with special needs with love and an open mind. My granddaughter has Down Syndrome, so my family and I had to learn how to provide instructions to special needs scholars especially when it hit home. I have all special needs students while working for 51Թ as an effective Math tutor from the second grade (2nd) to high school (algebra) throughout my tenure. I accept all challenges with a burning desire to prove students with different conditions can still excel if you motivate them and connect the math to similar life experiences so they can connect and remember the steps to solve multi-level equations and word problems. I am a retired high school Mathematics and track coach, who has dedicated my life to helping my students, scholars, and athletes to successfully pass and complete the NCAA ClearingHouse standards to obtain scholarships to elite colleges and universities. During my forty-two years of assisting my athletes in Math, I observed that people learn and retain information differently, so I assess their learning capabilities, and then I strengthen their skills. The key element to higher learning is engaging the student(s), then connecting the complexity of the math problem to their knowledge. This approach gives the student a reference to remember the required steps to solve the problems. I want to help as many students as possible with methods that they can remember for life. I have had success with elementary, middle and high school students for four (4) consecutive years while working for 51Թ! Let me help your child/scholar regardless of their special needs! I have been teaching special needs students for 15 years at the same school! Failure is not an option!
