Certified Tutor
As a high school student, Dan was flummoxed by chemistry, and would not have survived the course without a thoughtful and patient private tutor, a person whom he still considers a model to follow. He therefore approaches every student as someone with whom he empathizes, and tries to see the material through their eyes in order to help them best.
Dan is an experienced educator with great expertise in the social sciences as well as the humanities. He earned his BA in Anthropology from Haverford College, and both his MA and PhD in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin. As a graduate student, he has tutored for private companies as well as for UT-Austin's Athletics Department. As a professor, he has taught at UT-Austin, the University of Mississippi, and DePauw University. He is also the author of a book on music and politics in contemporary Egypt.
Dan grew up in suburban Philadelphia, but after living in Texas for grad school, he actually craves breakfast tacos more often than cheesesteaks.
