My journey in Sciences started in High School where my main interest was Chemistry. I was fascinated with mixing things together and seeing what happened. That probably also led me to enjoying cooking.
I did my undergraduate work in New York and received a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. I did a little tutoring back then of nursing students who just had to pass Chemistry to get their degree.
I then went to University of Maryland at Baltimore for my PhD in Biochemistry. I studied telomeres and their effect in cancer and anti-aging. After 5 years, I decided I needed a break from sciences and left with a Masters degree.
I ended up at the Art Institute of Atlanta where I studied computer graphic design. Technology was always my second love. I ended up doing graphic design for several years and even did some freelance work.
In the end, as I became a husband and a dad, I realized that giving back was what I needed to do. I spent so much of my time in school studying science and math, that seemed the best fit.
I really didn't know whether I would be a good teacher - I was confident in my knowledge, but was really scared the first week I started teaching. But in the end, I found teaching to be a meaningful and rewarding experience.
I teach about 180+ High School students every year in Physics and AP Physics I. I have been doing it over 7+ years. Every year I adapt what I teach to cater to the students I have. The job keeps me intellectually involved, experimentally observant and creatively free all while being able to give back.
