Certified Tutor

My name is Kiley and I am 24 years old! I am a recent graduate from Boise State University my degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in literacy.
I have spent 5+ years working directly with elementary school aged students, whole class, and one-on-one. I completed my student teaching in a 1st grade and 5th grade classroom in local schools here in Boise, Idaho. I have taught alongside some of the best mentor teachers in the valley and have learned very successful and valuable teaching methods!

I am a firm believer in getting to know the learning style of each student that I work with because every child is different. Each student has various methods of learning and understanding and I am here to accommodate. I believe that in order for a student to successfully grasp content, they must feel a need and desire to learn what is being taught. Students need to see the relevance of the content and make a connection! I enjoy finding what motivates students and what engages them in their learning so I can help students grasp content as well as take ownership of their own learning for their future.

I have the most experience in teaching reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and literacy because of my literacy endorsement. However, I have spent an excessive amount of time teaching elementary school math, science, and social studies. I have taken several courses in elementary school math methods, science methods, social studies methods, and literacy methods. In these courses, I researched and experimented with the most up-to-date and effective methods of teaching elementary school students in each of these subject areas.

Beyond all of my coursework, certifications, and college education, I believe that what makes me an effective teacher and tutor is my love for children and my passion for learning and preparing young minds for the future! I desire to help children experience success in their education and understand that school and learning can be fun!
