Connor
Certified Tutor
I am a student at Missouri State University obtaining my bachelor's degree in Global Studies.
I learned Spanish through classes in high school and college, and later demonstrated it by moving to Guatemala to teach English. My experience as both a student and teacher of foreign language qualifies me as a tutor to others.

What is your teaching philosophy?
As a Spanish tutor, I want to focus as much as possible on conversation. I would like to speak to the client in order to "grease the groove" on any difficult words or concepts of theirs.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session I'd like to quickly find out where the client is at with his/her studies, see what resources he/she is already using and move to practice. The majority of the time should still be spent productively. At the end, I would give some resources that I found helpful to me for individual practice.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
In order to best meet their goals, I want clients to do extra work outside of tutoring. There are many entertaining resources, such as apps and various TV shows, which helped when I was learning Spanish. I would recommend them and show clients how to access them.
