I am very happy with our experience so far with 51Թ. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am passionate about learning. That means different things to different students and types of learners. I have a great deal of experience with a diverse group of learners. I am certified to teach English Language Arts grades 6-12 in Georgia and Louisiana. I am also experienced with non traditional students and students with learning barriers. This includes adults.

Tutoring lets me teach, explain, and mentor in the most effective way for that learner. I am super creative and always looking for the best way to help ideas, knowledge and concepts stick in your brain. (That is where they need to be, right?)

I am an Air Force veteran, where I began as a Training Manager. I loved the small group training model so much that when I separated, I went back to college and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (with honors) from the University of Southern Mississippi. I was also a teacher and board member of an adult literacy program. In 2013, I went back to school and completed an MBA in my home city of Savannah, GA.

There are very few times that I'm not helping someone with figuring something out. I find that we often get overwhelmed with a project or assignment because we don't know how to break it down and learn the parts. I love that process and would love to show you (or your student) some different ways to look at it.

I love to write, which also helps me learn more about all kinds of topics. And communicating (either in an essay, on a test, or even in conversation) is the key. I typically write in APA or MLA style. I look forward to making your assignments less difficult, all while learning some new tools for the future.

What is your teaching philosophy?

When I see a student is struggling, I will often go back to an easier problem so that they can accomplish it successfully.
