Certified Tutor
I graduated in April 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature with a Teaching English as a Second Language minor. I plan on becoming a translator/interpreter/ESL teacher. I taught Hispanic adults at the intermediate level for 4 months as a student teacher. I was an ESL teacher's assistant for a month during the summer. The class consisted of 2nd graders preparing for the upcoming school year. While in high school I tutored a couple of girls for a whole school year (English, French). I also tutored someone who was a French beginner and I tutored a Venezuelan in English. Right now I am an online English teacher for Chinese children and I tutor an American in Polish. I love teaching, it's been my dream ever since I have been a child. Even though it's a lot of hard work, I find it very rewarding especially when a student finally understands something!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Mainly I help with whatever they need, if it's homework, conversation or anything else. At the end of the session, I ask: what are their expectations and do I need to prepare something for next time?
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Praise the student during lessons and let them know where they have improved because people usually don't see their own progress.
