What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy: Promote independent growth. Help inspire young learners. To encourage learners to do their best.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

If I find a student is struggling, I would first ask if there something that would help them learn better. If the student has ideas, we will adopt those ideas along with teaching strategies to see if it is a good fit. If the student can't think of anything, we can brainstorm together to come up with ideas to help his or her learning. In this way, students will learn to be independent.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

During tutoring sessions, I like to use worksheets, computers, and manipulatives.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can help students to become independent learners by giving them strategies to use, such as asking them what they know and what they want to learn, helping them to become independent by stepping back, time management, using mind mapping to express thoughts, and evaluating by asking questions.
