Sean
Certified Tutor
I graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in Math with a minor in Statistics in 2010. I have been a tutor since 2006, a freshman year in college. Since then I have helped more than 50 students achieve their academic goals and be a mentor for non-academic counseling as well (e.g. career mentoring, what are your values in life etc). I will be tutoring mainly graduate test prep, particularly the GMAT, but I can tutor any college subject materials as well (mainly in Math, Statistics, and any business subjects). I have had a successful career outside of tutoring as well so if you are aspiring to work in business after college and want to know about things like how to break into a certain career path then I can be a great resource for you as well. If you are studying for the GMAT and want to know about Columbia Business School, I can share my thoughts as a current student and share my admissions insights as well.
I believe that tutoring is actually building a strong friendship. I do not do this for money but because I really love to see those who I have personal rapport with succeed in their life. I will do my best to find the best way for you not only to ahchieve a certain academic result but also to find and achieve any other life-long goals.
I am generally available all throughout the week (morning, day & night), provided that the schedule does not conflict with my class schedule. I will be avialable generally all year-round except during the breaks due to reasons mainly related to internship & my personal schedule.

What is your teaching philosophy?
A good tutor knows his stuff, but a great tutor learns about the students.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Ask what my student expects of me and tell them what I expect of them.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Soul-searching together on why you want to study in the first place.
