Education has always been a passion of mine. From my days growing up and playing school with my younger siblings, to running study groups in high school, I never tired of the joys of teaching and learning. It was a natural fit that I pursued a degree in Education and became a licensed teacher. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin with a minor in English. Since 2011, I have been sharing my love of learning and enriching the mind's of children in grades 4-8. I have taught in a 4th-5th grade multi-age classroom, and as a 7th grade Language Arts teacher. Reading, writing, and analytical thinking are my favorite subjects to tutor and talk about. In my free time, I enjoy reading fiction, playing with my dog Oreo, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I strongly believe that teaching and learning is a collaboration. I find that the "I do, we do, you do" approach is the best practice. I teach the skill or content; we work together on it, then when ready, the student works individually. Also, I believe that learning should be enjoyable and relate to our interests!
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session, I think it is important to get to know the student. A fun and easy "icebreaker" about the student's academic background and their interests is a great first step!
