Certified Tutor

I am currently an instructor in psychology and ethics at Colorado Technical University. My education is in Psychology and Philosophy, having degrees from Loyola University and the University of Chicago. I find teaching and helping people to improve their knowledge and intellectual skills to be a great pleasure. It is the most fulfilling activity I have experienced. I am concerned with helping people become aware of those basic and foundational concepts and methods that underlie all higher level abilities and allow for success in mastering difficult areas of intellectual pursuit. I am very sensitive to the variety of learning needs due to individual differences in temperament, thought processes and preferences; as such, I attempt to find ways to explain and describe ideas and skills that will be most amenable to the individual’s capacities and experiences. I enjoy working one-on-one with people who can benefit from my own specialized knowledge; successfully sharing such knowledge is very rewarding. I am a good mentor in my specialized skills of psychology and philosophy and am also valuable in the area of language usage in academic writing, along with proper formatting, citations and references; these are all areas in which I can be of help. I am a fairly laid back person with a good sense of humor with an overall positive approach in working with others. I can, however, be a bit demanding in my standards. I would hope that that is what the student expects from me.
