I am a recent graduate of the University of Chicago where I studied Economics under Nobel laureates professors. At the UChicago I focused my attention on Welfare Economics, Labor Economics, Industrial Economics, and the Economics of Education and Human Capital development. I am here in St. Louis to do a one year program at Washington University that basically crams in all the prerequisites for the MCAT into a single year. I hope to leverage my background in economics after I become an MD to do prescriptive research for education policies given the recent insights into the large effects a persons level of education has on their health.
I am confident in my ability to tutor in the following subjects: Calculus and lower math classes, Microeconomics, Chemistry, and the ACT (all subjects). Although I am relatively new to being a paid tutor I have experience tutoring many students with a wide range of abilities during my time volunteering for educational programs for students from the South Side of Chicago.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Typically, our first session will be a quick introduction, where the student and I can get to know one another and I can understand what the student's needs are, and receive the student's syllabus so that I can be ready to prep myself for future sessions. If the need is immediate for help, of course I will be more than willing to jump into the material with the student.
What is your teaching philosophy?
Knowledge is all about making connections to prior well understood concepts, therefore I emphasize making as many of these strong connections as possible through examples. I also emphasize confidence, as this is a major inhibitor of bright kids reaching their potential.
