Currently, I am attending SF State University and am attaining my M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry. In addition, I enjoy teaching both biology and chemistry during my spare time-- this is my passion. I teach these subjects to all ages and strive to improve scientific literacy in my own way, that is, being an effective tutor.
Moreover, my method of tutoring is particularly effective, because I get to know what type of learner the student is (e.g. visual learner, hands-on learner, etc.) and present the material in this way. This method prepares the student with a basic foundation of knowledge to continue to study independently, that is, without the help of me. Thus, as your potential tutor I will come to know the weaknesseses in your knowledge and improve them in a way best suited to you.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Teaching plays a dual role in my life: it helps me improve the understanding of a concept for the student, and fortifies my own understanding of the subject as well. This is important to me, because my future aspiration is to become a teacher and teach science in a way that is widely understandable to my students. Thus, being a tutor and aiming to be a great one prepares me to fulfill this aspiration.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would first introduce myself to the student and then ask what subject he/she is having trouble with. Thereafter, I would probe what is the source of the student's misunderstanding and clarify the subject in a way that the student would be able to understand.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I help the student attain the basic foundation of a particular subject. In this way, they have the tools to explore a particular subject in greater detail, independently.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I encourage them along the tutoring session, and praise them for any understanding they hadn't previously had.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I simplify the concept in a way that the student can understand, such as in a demonstration (e.g. visual, hands-on activity, etc.).
