I very much dislike writing personal statements, a fact I believe is a very strong personal statement.

I have a dog. She is a 2.5 year old boxer-chocolate lab mix.

I believe in approaching everything holistically in order to understand the bigger picture as well as all the possible effects of a cause (decision.)

I can relate anything to Harry Potter or Disney.

I attended Robert Morris University and Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law.

I have a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration (I majored in Accounting) and a Juris Doctor.

I have helped many of my peers throughout my years of school when they were struggling. Even for college classes I didn't take but knew a lot about from my own reading. I have also helped elementary students with their school work in private and through school-sponsored volunteer programs.

I tutor Math, History, certain Law, and basic k-12 education.

I love teaching History because it story telling and I like making it entertaining.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Everyone learns differently: the key to succeeding is understanding how you learn, and molding your study habits to take advantage of your personal strengths.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Find things in common so I can better relate to a student.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Build their confidence and show them their strengths so they understand how they best learn.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

This is different for every student. Some respond better to self-satisfaction; others to rewards or external praise.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Relate the concept to something the student understands. I once taught finance to a friend by comparing it to clothes shopping.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

By breaking it down and going slow. I also would find an alternative means, such as music.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

That every student is different, and you constantly have to adjust yourself to your student.
