Certified Tutor
I am a hard working recent college graduate who desires to see everyone around her be successful. I am passionate about learning and educating. My undergraduate degree was obtained from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama in International Studies, B.A. with a Political Science Minor. During my time at Oakwood University, I have participated in many different leadership roles. My role of highest acclaim was my position of Miss Oakwood University, where our goals were to implement change at our university and represent them in a national setting. I also was a member of the Oakwood University Aeolians, the official choir of our university. It is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed group that was ranked #1 in the category of gospel, pop, and jazz and has given our school the name of the "Juilliard of the South". In the fall semester of 2015, I am attending the University of Pennsylvania (affectionately known as Penn) to receive my Masters in Bioethics. I hope to continue my education after that year and attend to law school. My ultimate desire is to work as an ethics policy consultant or a corporate ethics liaison. I am fun loving, serious about academics, patient, and believe that everyone can be great. My goal as a tutor is just to expose the greatness that is already in the individual.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I usually have them answer a few questions that I have on a New Student form that I have created. This helps me learn about them and what they like.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
If you give a student tools that are relevant and interesting to them, it will facilitate independent learning.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I try to help students stay motivated by helping them learn in ways that they can appreciate. For example, if your favorite sport is soccer, we are going to talk a lot about soccer and how that applies to what you are learning.
