Teaching is about passion, not only a passion for the subject but for the desire to impart knowledge on your students that will stick with them for a lifetime and prepare them to be part of a new and evolving future. In those terms, teaching is a process of engaging students and empowering them to pursue their own learning. To accomplish this, a tutor has to wear many hats: that of a mentor, a cheerleader, an expert, and others.
Many times in the Physical Science class it can seem like an extension of math, an endless list of numbers of formulas that are just given as absolutes. The truth is that being able to solve problems is much less important than understanding the underlying concepts present. Having an understanding of these concepts will make the mathematical work that is involved much easier. The role of a tutor is to reinforce the instruction of a student's teacher and build up a base of knowledge with the use of real world examples.
My teaching style is deeply rooted in the idea that each student is a unique human being who has to be listened to and given adequate attention in order to reach his or her full potential. I believe that every student can learn to appreciate and enjoy even the most difficult subject if their teacher has prepared a lesson in the correct way.
