I am a current medical student at University of Maryland School of Medicine pursuing a MD and aspiring to go into the field of surgery. I currently rank at the top 10% of my class. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience. JHU has a reputation as a top research institution, and therefore attracts some of the nations top researchers and professors. Consequently, science major graduates of Johns Hopkins University are excellent in science, and I am no exception as we receive training/teaching from the nation's top researchers and professors. Since my major was in Biology, my areas of expertise are biological sciences such as Biology, Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.

I am also strong in SAT writing and reading, with special techniques of my own for upping the score for the SAT writing section.

I was a chemistry lab teaching assistant for two years for the Chemistry Department at Johns Hopkins University. The selection process for teaching assistants included mastery of chemistry concepts, ability to demonstrate teaching, clarity in communication and listening skills, and high level of responsibility. I supervised one group of 20-24 Johns Hopkins freshman students per semester. I answered questions and guided students to a greater understanding of chemical principles. Teaching assistants also staffed help sessions for students who need additional help in understanding chemistry concepts. I have great evaluations from my students to show.

I have spent several summers doing research with top researchers from researchers/professors from Johns Hopkins University. Research molds the way you think about questions and how to solve the problem. When teaching others, you must be able to teach the way you think to arrive at that understanding or answer. Learning how to think and digest new knowledge is what I can teach in addition to knowledge.

While science satisfies my inquisitive nature, providing answers and knowledge, art feeds my creative seed and occupies my free time. The creativity of an artist can be a powerful asset to a teacher. I possesses an artist's creative ability to view the world and its problems in different perspectives, intuitive knack to come up with unexpected ways of looking and understanding new concepts, and flexibility of thought. I can explain a concept from different perspectives often utilizing visuals and the big picture. My students often like the very visual way I teach and how I can explain things parsed down, then get into the details.
