Melinda
Certified Tutor
I currently hold three degrees: a BA in English Literature from Augusta State University, a MA in Women's Studies from Georgia State University, and a BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Augusta University. I will matriculate at the Medical College of Georgia this fall, where I will pursue my MD.
I have over a decade of tutoring and teaching experience. I have worked for public schools and universities, including "alternative" schools, and private tutoring companies, like Varsity. As a result, I have worked with students from a wide variety of backgrounds, including children as young as four, high-school and college students, adult learners, ESL students, and students with learning differences, like dyslexia, ADHD, and ADD.
As a tutor, I take a holistic approach to student success, meaning that I work with each student to develop a well-rounded and individualized tutorial program that addresses the full spectrum of each student's needs and goals.
I tutor many different subjects, but my favorite subjects to tutor are biology; writing, especially college admissions and scholarship essays; reading; and study skills.
In my spare time, I volunteer with local non-profit organizations, watch science fiction movies and television shows, and hang out with my two "fur-babies," Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt and Olivia "Livvy" Newton John.
