Certified Tutor

Working my way through academia has strengthened my philosophy for teaching. I believe in fostering enthusiasm for learning and giving students the tools to make their futures bright.

I started tutoring international students while completing my BA degree in Japanese Studies. My research and focus developed further, encompassing studies in ESL, educational policy and history, methodologies, global education, and so on. For a year, I travelled to over ten countries, observing their classrooms and educational environments. I completed a MAEdHD (Masters of Education and Human Development) concentrating in International Education and Intercultural Communications. Simultaneously, I earned a certificate from an accredited institute in TEFL/TESOL, teaching ESL to a range of ages from children to adults. After my second degree, I went to work putting theory to practice in classrooms, hands-on research, and educational programs. Students and I work together as a team to assess their needs, plan our instructional approach, and reach their goals!
