Tutoring review by Youcef in Mount Arlington, NJ
We had a long session discussion the solutions to Assignment No. 2. I spent some time revisiting basic principles of probabilities, discrete probability mass functions (PMFs), and probability density functions in the continuous world of random variables. I went over basics and conditions of application of Z-test versus t-Test in hypothesis testing. We addressed alternate arguments to counter a hypothesized scenario. We discuss the meaning of confidence interval, standard error of means, standard deviation estimation, rejection and acceptance intervals. I touched to different errors types (I and II) and the power computation. I truly admire the drive the student shows to learn the material. I am pleasantly surprised to know that she's able to grasp the concept of evaluating the area under the curve (integration). I look forward to continue working with her, and make statistics an easy subject for her.

The student had already finished his homework, so we did some review and some enrichment with new material. We started with a worksheet of word problems, then I introduced order of operations, and we practiced some multi-operation problems. He did well. He had a good grasp on the concepts.

The student and I had a great session. He worked on all of his homework, with an emphasis on his English assignment. He did extremely well on his summer writing assignment and his Latin quiz. We also covered some physics material--he was unsure about something from class, but I broke it down for him and he got it.

Tutoring review by Chris in Mount Arlington, NJ
The student has her chapter two test on Monday. Today, we spent time working through her reviews to make sure she had all the concepts mastered. Those concepts included solving equations, finding the zeros of a function, graphing functions, completing the square, and word problems with these concepts. She was most worried about word problems going into the review session. However, she was able to solve each word problem with ease. She demonstrated that she had mastered maximum and minimum problems by getting the function in vertex form. She was able to solve equations with ease. For the last concept, completing the square, I had to walk her through one example. After that, she was able to complete the rest correctly. Also, I extended some of the problems that she completed so she would be prepared for any question the teacher could ask her related to the topics.
