Does Raleigh-Durham LSAT Prep Help Me Review All Sections of the Test?
We can set you up with professional LSAT prep to help you review all sections of the test. The LSAT consists of 4 sections: Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Writing. This test is taken on tablets that are provided at a test center. You will select answers on the screen by tapping on an answer choice. These tablets also feature a timer with a five-minute warning, highlighting, and flagging to keep track of questions that you may want to revisit later. Now, let's take a look at each section to get a better understanding of what to expect.
The Reading Comprehension section contains questions that measure your ability to read and understand examples of complex texts that are similar to those that you'll encounter in law school. You will encounter questions about the main idea of the text, information that is explicitly stated, information of ideas that can be inferred, the meaning and purpose of words or phrases used in context, the organization or structure, analogies to claims or arguments in the selection, an author's attitude in a passage, and the impact of new information on claims or arguments in the selection. You will have 35 minutes to complete this section.
The Analytical Reasoning section contains questions that measure your ability to understand a structure of relationships and draw conclusions about that structure. This section assesses your skills in the comprehension of the basic structure in a set of stated relationships by determining a complete solution to the problem posed, reasoning conditional statements, inferring what could be true or must be true from provided facts, and the recognition of two statements with the context that is logically equivalent. This section also gives you 35 minutes to complete it.
Logical Reasoning is comprised of 2 sections and allows you 70 minutes to answer all questions. These sections assess your ability to analyze, critically evaluate, and complete arguments. The content sources for these sections are newspapers, magazines, scholarly publications, advertisements, and informal discourse. You will need to be able to recognize parts of an argument and their relationships, draw well-supported conclusions, reason by analogy, recognize similarities and differences between patterns of reasoning, identify misunderstandings or points of disagreement, determine how additional evidence affects an argument, and detect assumptions made by particular arguments. You will also need to have excellent skills in identifying and applying principles or rules, flaws in an argument, and explanations.
Finally, the Writing section is administered online via a secure testing platform separately from the multiple-choice test sections. This section must be completed within a year of taking the multiple-choice sections. This section is not scored but will be provided to law schools in order for them to see the reasoning, clarity, organization, language usage, and writing mechanics you display. You will be presented a decision problem, and you are asked to choose between two positions or courses of action and defend your choice. There are now "right" or "wrong" positions. You just need to demonstrate your argumentative writing skills.
Your LSAT score is based on the number of correct answers, giving you your raw score. All questions are scored the same, so the total number of questions you get right matters for your score, but not which individual questions you get right. Also, you are not penalized for wrong answers, so it is okay to guess an answer if you don't know it. Your raw score is then converted to an LSAT scale that ranges from 120 to 180, with 180 being the highest possible score.

Tutors are more than expert academics; they are motivational coaches. The greatest obstacle preventing a student from learning is lack of belief in their own abilities. There is no knowledge outside the reach of anyone's understanding. ... Patience, understanding, and kindness go a very long way with helping students build their confidence.... Get an understanding for the student’s objective and learning style.... By helping the student believe in themselves, first and foremost. Secondly, by encouraging the student to build up good study habits. Third, by showing the student available resources for future access.
