Certified Tutor

Greetings! I am an educator and student support services professional currently working in admissions for a higher education institution. My past teaching experience is in high school Spanish. I have a bachelors degree from Luther College in Spanish education with a minor in Art. I also have a master's degree in international education from the University of Minnesota. I am passionate about language, culture, and how the two interact. I enjoy helping students express themselves more clearly. With joy and humor, I aim to help folks learn how to create new ways of communicating and belonging through languages. I work with students from all over the world so I would be great fit for any student learning in an ELL classroom and want to increase their skills and abilities in classes taught in English. I can tutor most subjects at the high school level but I'm most excited about working with in students in Spanish, English, and writing in either language. I also am neurodivergent and understand how important it is to develop ways to work with you brain rather than against it. I find this approach empowers students to direct their own learning process. With this in mind, I get to know my students and examine together how they learn best. Then I get to work to individualize lessons ensuring students get what they need out of their tutoring sessions. When not in education mode, I like to sing in an LGBTQ+ choir, play volleyball, bike, cuddle with my two cats, and bake tasty things.
