Certified Tutor

I am a current student at Johns Hopkins University, working towards a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Music. Much of my teaching experience comes from leading workshops and training other students through my job at an on campus multimedia lab space. I have also helped develop lesson plans and organize events for different experiential learning opportunities, often for younger students, and I currently serve as a peer mentor. These experiences have reinforced my love for teaching and helping others better understand concepts, develop new skills, and gain greater confidence. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I mainly focus on math and science, which I have had much exposure to as an engineer. I also enjoy helping students with English, reading, ACT prep, and more. I find that learning by doing often effectively develops skills and understanding, so I like to teach by asking students to actively do something (e.g. set up a problem, determine steps to take, etc.) with my guidance after an initial explanation, instead of just a continuous lecture approach. Outside of academics, I really enjoy music (which led me to the minor); I play the piano and drums, enjoy production and audio engineering, and love just listening to music. Other than music, I enjoy cooking and exploring new foods, working out, and learning languages.
