Hi there! My name is Emily, and I am excited to learn how I can help you succeed in your math or science class. I have chosen to tutor over other jobs because I believe that every single student has the capacity within themself to reach their goals and full potential with just a little help. With the right guidance, support, and subjectmatter expertise, you or your child will be improving their letter grades and reaching their goals in no time.

When working with a student, I draw on my years of experience tutoring and teaching middle, high school, and college students at every level, from high school math to summer program courses at Yale. In teaching, I take an empathetic approach to learning.

As a former student, I know firsthand that the expertise of the teacher does not always correlate with that teacher's effectiveness working with students. Because my teaching is based on years of real-world experience tutoring students, I know that the "textbook" way of explaining things does not work for every student. As such, I view every student uniquely and create a unique tutoring approach based on that student's learning style.

Hobbies

I am based in New York City. I graduated from Bowdoin College in 2023 after a two-year medical leave during which I fought cancer for the second time. As a result of my experience beating cancer, I am passionate about cancer research as well as cancer prevention. When I am not working with students, I love to cook, be outside, and spend time with my family and friends. Having grown up in Maine, there is nothing better to me than skiing on powdery slopes in the winter.
