As an accomplished and dedicated Computer Science educator with a first-class degree in the field, I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential in A-level and GCSE computing. Currently serving as a 2nd in charge of department at one of London's top private schools, I bring extensive experience and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in teaching computer science to young learners.
My expertise covers a wide range of computing topics, including algorithms, object-oriented programming, data structures, and programming fundamentals. In addition to teaching these core concepts, I have experience supporting students with their Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) projects, helping them develop their problem-solving skills and apply their knowledge to real-world situations.
I have a strong foundation in programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, and JavaScript, which I have used to develop various applications throughout my career. This hands-on experience allows me to provide students with real-world examples and practical guidance that goes beyond theoretical knowledge. As a teacher, I have had the privilege of instructing students in various aspects of computing, including information technology, computer skills, media editing, web design and development, Unity, internet safety, and Microsoft Office software.
Throughout my teaching career, I have designed and implemented comprehensive computer science curricula tailored to the needs of middle and high school students. My approach to teaching focuses on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters creativity and critical thinking. By incorporating hands-on activities and personalized learning, I strive to make computer science both enjoyable and accessible for all students.
I have taught OCR specifications for both GCSEs and A-level Computer Science, as well as Edexcel for IT BTEC courses, which has given me a deep understanding of the requirements and expectations of different examination boards. As a computer science teacher, I have had the opportunity to mentor teacher trainees, create curriculum programs, and manage a weekly coding club, further expanding my experience and knowledge in the field of computer science education.
With my expertise, passion for teaching, and commitment to student success, I am confident in my ability to help students excel in A-level and GCSE computing. I look forward to the opportunity to inspire and guide the next generation of computer scientists, as they embark on their journey to explore the fascinating world of computing.
