I am a graduate in Human Geography from the University of Southampton, UK. In 2001 I obtained a TESOL diploma and began teaching in Taiwan, Spain and Austria, before moving to Colombia in 2003. Here, I embarked on a 10-year period teaching the International Baccalaureate Programme to bilingual secondary school students, before becoming an official IB examiner in Listening, Speaking and Writing components. I was subsequently promoted to Principal Examiner and I now manage a team of examiners in the Reading component of this exam.

I am comfortable and experienced with all aspects of the English language, and enjoy using materials that are of real interest to the student. Reading opens up a whole new world to us, and writing allows us to express ourselves in a more thoughtful, considered manner. I enjoy helping students organize and expand their ideas. I have also worked as a proof-reader, and can help my clients improve the flow of their language.

I now mostly tutor online with outstanding ratings on several platforms, and also work as a freelance writer with a view to producing a book related to my experiences in Colombia.

In terms of my English as a Foreign Language focus, most of my clients are IELTS students, particularly academic IELTS. I have extensive experience in particular helping with the Speaking and Writing components.

Throughout my teaching career, students and superiors have highlighted my friendly attitude and ability to create a meaningful connection of trust with students. This is important because many young people have psychological barriers to success, which need to be recognized and confronted. I love helping others reach their full potential, and have studied life coaching techniques for this purpose.
