I am passionate about helping students because I believe that everyone can be successful. Whether you're an aspiring writer or an aspiring engineer, anyone can learn to do something new if they put their mind to it. I've worked with students who have been reluctant to try new things, but once they committed to learning something new, they were able to succeed and then go on to do amazing things.
Tutoring allows me to connect with students and help them learn new skills that would be useful in their future careers. I believe that this type of work is important because it creates opportunities for growth and helps students develop their potential.
I love working with students because I get to see them grow and change over time. I have always been fascinated by the idea of people learning and growing, and I am always thrilled when students tell me that they have learned something new about themselves through our sessions together.
I have a bachelor's in Architecture and a Double Masters in Architectural Technology and Building design, with a focus in math. In addition to my academic training, I have worked as a tutor since before my undergraduate degree, and I continue to tutor middle - high school students and college students throughout the year.
My favorite subject to tutor is Algebra because it is so richly layered with meaning for me as an individual and as a person. It fascinates me how these equations can be interpreted from different perspectives, depending on what there needs to be solved, what angles things need to be structured at for efficiency, what speed roller-coaster can max at, etc.
I am passionate about helping students because I believe that when we learn, we grow. It's important to me that my students feel like they're getting a great education, because I want them to be able to take on the future with confidence.
I have worked with students for over 3 years as a TA and weekly tutor, and during that time, I've seen a lot of different styles of learning and personalities. What I've found is that the best way for me to help my students grow is by focusing on their strengths and weaknesses what they enjoy, what they don't enjoy, why they love it or hate it so much and then using those insights as a starting point for discussion.
