I have been a History teacher in the English school system for 30 years. In that time I have taught History to thousands of students, ranging from 11 to 18 years old. I have also coached students for the Oxford and Cambridge entrance exams for History.
I have had experience of all the major examination boards (AQA most recently, Edexcel and OCR). My main area of expertise is 17th century Britain, otherwise known as the Stuart era. I have taught this for A level for most of my career. I have also taught Irish history (19th and early 20th century), Nazi Germany, 20th century British cultural history and the Tudor period for A level over the years. I also have extensive experience of supervising A level History coursework (also known as the NEA).
For GCSE I have extensive experience of teaching Medicine Through Time, The American West, the Inter war period (1918-1939) and Elizabethan England. I have also taught elements of crime and punishment and the World Wars.
As a History teacher of students pre-formal examinations I have taught all of the main topics from the Norman Conquest, Medieval Britain, the Early Modern period, the Industrial Revolution, the British Empire/Slave Trade and the World Wars.
