Certified Tutor

I have a B.A from the University of Alabama. I have a Masters of Teaching Social Science (US History/Psychology) from the University of West Alabama and meet the qualifications to teach college US History, Psychology and American Government. I have over a decade of diverse teaching experience including college, high school, middle and elementary school. I am currently an Adult Education (GED/Hiset) instructor at Hinds Community College where I teach all core subjects. I have MS teacher certification in Secondary and Middle School Math, AP US History, Social Studies, English, Psychology and Special Education. I am particularly strong in teaching math. I have taught math, AP US history at the High School level and Special Education at the high, middle and elementary school levels. I teach algebra, geometry and basic math daily while preparing students to take the GED/HISET exam. This experience helps me effectively tutor other standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT. I pride myself in being able to teach students of all ages, backgrounds and academic levels as my broad experience indicates. I love teaching and lifelong learning. I believe learning is rewarding for 'its own sake'. At the same time, having focused, targeting learning goals is crucial for students and teachers. Along with teaching content to help students master subject matter, my goal is to help students to become better students and more effective learners overall.
