Certified Tutor

After a childhood spent reading books and playing pretend, and another four years at Texas Lutheran University studying Dramatic Media and English Literature, I've developed a deep love of writing. It's something that has helped me process the world and become excited about what it has to offer. My ultimate goal as a tutor is that I want to help people enjoy writing, not just become good at it!

I think what makes writing and literary analysis difficult for some people is that they are subjects that require a great deal of practice, critical thinking, and confidence. Thankfully, all of these things can be improved upon with patience, questions, and constructive feedback. Thanks to my previous experience as a peer consultant at my university I've learned that my focus as a tutor should not just be to produce better writing, but to help train better writers, by giving them transferrable skills that they can use to further their education. It is also about listening to each other, and adapting to a student's needs and goals so that I can best understand how to help them. Everyone is different, and everyone learns differently; I want to do my best to accommodate that.
