I am a senior-standing student at the University of Nevada, Reno, currently pursuing a dual-degree in Molecular Microbiology & Immunology as well as Spanish Literature. Because of this, I have incredible breadth, taking courses ranging from advanced sciences to the liberal arts. Throughout my time in undergrad I have had various peer education experiences. As a teaching assistant for Genetics I was responsible for both educating my students as well as ensuring this success in the course. Moreover, during my sophomore year, I completed a study abroad program in Spain. Through this experience I truly immersed myself in the language and culture of my host country. Thus, as a non-native speaker I can emphasize with the struggles that second-language learners encounter and know how to get past them.
