Certified Tutor

I enjoy working with young people and have done so my entire adult life. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English earned at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. I am permanently certified in the state of Ohio to teach all aspects of English; grades 7-12. I did teach English for 27 years in Ohio. I also hold a masters degree in education from John Carroll University. I have done school counselling at the high school level for the last 11 years until retirement of 36 and 1/2 years in education. I also developed a study skills course which I taught at the college level to educators for continuing education credits. I can also "teach" that to students both directly and/or indirectly. I enjoy all aspects of teaching English. I like to emphasize the creative aspect of teaching. I like to make learning as much fun as possible. My philosophy is to engage the student as much as possible by experiential learning. I enjoy bike riding, long walks, reading, writing and continued learning myself. I also enjoy movies. I do some watercolor painting when I find the time.
