Certified Tutor

I am a recently retired middle and high school social studies teacher. I have taught for 14 years in Cleveland, Ohio and Durham, North Carolina. I have been substitute teaching these past two years. Prior to teaching, I was in industrial sales in Ohio.

My certification is for grades 6-12 in Social Studies. Subjects taught have been World History, African-American History, Civics and Economics, American History I and II, and AP US History.

My degrees are such; a Bachelor's degree from Ohio University, a Master of Arts from Ashland Theological Seminary, and a Master of Education from John Carroll University. All are in Ohio.

51�Թ��� has approved me to teach Geography, High School Geography, High School American History, Social Studies and World Religions.

I also have experience in years past tutoring test taking strategies for the SAT and ACT.

When retirement came, I created a themed history and heritage guided tour company based out of Durham, North Carolina. I love talking to people about history and showing them historical sites.

The great outdoors is where I am happiest. I am a trail junkie. I love to walk, hike and bike the Triangles many multipurpose trails.

My family is of great importance to me and I am fortunate that all four of my children live in the Triangle.

I look forward to working with each and every one of you. It is important to find out from each student how they learn best. When it comes to history and social studies, learning different skills for interpretation of such things as political cartoons, maps, graphs and charts, primary source documents and such is important. How to write a well crafted essay is also necessary when dealing with the social sciences. I hope to offer assistance to each student in these areas.
