An experienced and passionate instructor, who taught for 15 years while earning a Ph.D. in English from Saint Louis University, I have found great satisfaction in working one-on-one with students and with the screenwriters from my workshops. The college classes I designed and taught ranged from developmental writing classes and freshman level rhetoric classes to specialized creative writing classes, senior-level classes business writing, and capstone classes in public policy. I firmly believe that putting the material in cultural and historical contexts gives students a concrete way to understand the lessons. I encourage students to analyze why the information is important and to apply their new knowledge in other situations. Teaching someone to use knowledge, rather than just to regurgitate it, is the hallmark of true learning. It's like teaching a man to fish.
