Hello! My name is Chris, and I graduated summa cum laude (4.0 GPA) with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Alabama at Huntsville in 2012. Since then, I have been pursuing my PhD from Princeton University specializing in plasma physics and spacecraft propulsion. I am currently working on my dissertation remotely from Pittsburgh, and I am excited to have the opportunity to help other students achieve their academic goals.
Despite my good grades and test scores in my undergraduate degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, I felt totally unprepared when I first stumbled into the even-math-and-physics-heavier world of plasma physics and graduate-level engineering mathematics; I know what it is like to struggle to finish homework assignments and to worry that you don't truly understand what you're doing during a test. I persevered, and eventually made it through, having learned more than I would have thought possible in the first two years of graduate school. Now I'm approaching the end of my PhD work, and I'd like to use the skills I acquired from my own difficulties to help other students succeed. If my work sounds complicated or obscure, don't worry - I also take pride in my ability to explain difficult and advanced concepts in plain language so that anyone can understand.
I've been tutoring students, primarily in mathematics, on and off since I was a high-school student. I started by tutoring family friends in Geometry, Trigonometry, and Algebra, and eventually began working as a Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) Leader and Peer Tutor for Engineering Dynamics and other engineering- and physics-related courses during my undergraduate studies. During my graduate degree, I have served as an Assistant in Instruction (AI) for several undergraduate courses, including Engineering Mathematics and Engineering Design. Whether you need help with basic algebra or complex analysis, I am here to help you understand.
I hope to hear from you, and welcome questions about scheduling or my experience with course topics. If you'd like to schedule a lesson, please contact me!
