Having taught for 22 years, I have extensive experience teaching reading comprehension, literature analysis, writing, as well as standardized testing strategies. I regularly work with ESL students and students with specific learning disabilities. I have found that incorporating technology, graphic organizers and visual aids can help struggling readers with comprehension. I also have great success in teaching students how to write basic essays "from the ground up." Knowing how to write thesis statements, organize ideas, and elaborate by incorporating text evidence are all essential writing skills for middle and high school students. I enjoy working with teenagers and helping them succeed.
