Certified Tutor

I am a 2015 graduate of Ursinus College, from where I received my Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics with minors in Statistics, Computer Science, and Secondary Education. I have taught all grades 7-12 during stints at Spring-Ford Area SD (student teaching), Stetson Middle School in the West Chester Area SD, and Great Valley High School.

While I love being in the classroom and having 20 or so students at a time, I have found that the opportunity to work with students one on one is a very rewarding experience. Tutoring is a great opportunity for the tutor and student because the student's needs can be better addressed since the student is the sole focus of tutoring sessions. I feel that my experience studying the field of education and teaching allow me to understand where other teachers are coming from, in addition to knowledge and practice of my own education strategies, which allows me to provide the best possible help for a student.

Many students who are struggling with math are actually struggling with their math confidence or math motivation. Unfortunately, the way math has been taught in our country has lead to math becoming this scary monster for a lot of students, rather than the fun tool that it truly is. Because of this, I not only work to help students with particular mathematical concepts but also to build their confidence in math. I believe that every student is capable of succeeding, and it is important that they believe that too.
