What is your teaching philosophy?
When students are struggling with reading comprehension, I will ask them to underline, highlight, and identify any vocabulary words they do not understand. Then, we will begin to puzzle out the meaning of the word using contextual clues. Additionally, I find that preparing adequately for readings by reading subject headings first can allow students to prepare their mind for the task at hand.
