What is your teaching philosophy?
Mastery of language is a prerequisite for mastery of communication. A strong command of language also aids in developing critical thinking skills, decoding math problems, and gaining confidence and style as a writer and public speaker.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
During the first session, it is important to begin to get to know the student and their personal learning style, as well as to allow the student to get to know the tutor and their methods.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Helping students acquire skills to gain confidence is the beginning of their journey towards being an independent learner.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Motivation comes from understanding the value of the content and strategies being studied.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Helping students to tackle challenging concepts and skills is a matter of assessing their understanding of the particular material and developing individual approaches tailored to their learning style.
