Certified Tutor

I am currently a teacher in the Baltimore City Public Schools, and I recently graduated with a dual Masters in Education from Lesley University. I have multiple qualifications that make me a good tutor, but I would rather speak from my beginnings.

Before I was a teacher or a graduate student, I was a young scholar, an immigrant, and a child who struggled in school. While all the other students got it, I just didn't . School was hard for me, and while I liked my friends, I hated the humiliation of just not getting it. What took others just moments to understand, took me hours to maybe just kind of get. It was exhausting!

With the help of teachers, tutors, and my parents, I made my way through elementary school and soon discovered that I was gifted! (Imagine that!) After the 5th grade, school became easier in a lot of ways. I began to excel academically and remained at the top of my class all the way through graduate school. When people look at me, they would never guess that I could not read until the 3rd grade or write until the 4th grade.

As a teacher, I am able to bring a sense of empathy born from my humble academic beginnings. I know what it is like to excel, but more importantly, I know what it is like to try your hardest but fail time after time. I believe that education is attainable to everyone, but some just need a little more time and guidance to make it.
