I am very happy with our experience so far with 51Թ. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Any subject can be made interesting, with a motivated and optimistic mindset.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a first session I like to find out a student's strengths and weaknesses. From there, we can determine if our best option is to multiply a student's strengths, or incrementally improve their weaknesses. Also, I like to swap one good joke with every new student.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can help a student become an independent learner by showing them how to study, rather than forcing them to study with me. Tutors aren't meant to be by your side forever, and certainly I won't be there to take a test with my students. My goal is to give study tips and tricks, rather than repeat and test.
