I have been teaching now for 8 years. I decided in the 5th grade that I wanted to be a teacher because Mrs. Dixon, who taught fifth grade math, made learning so much fun. I wanted to able to do for other students what she did for me, instill in and encourage a lifetime love of knowledge and learning.

I have always enjoyed reading, even when I was a child. I enjoy watching movies and tv shows. Many of the things I watch and read fall into the sci fi/ fantasy category. I also love to craft. I have budding t shirt printing/ craft business.

What is your teaching philosophy?
All children can learn, you just have to find a way to teach them that works for them.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would do an activity that will help me get to know the student better, such as an interest inventory or a game.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Don't overload them with difficult tasks. Give them activities that they can be successful in the beginning and build upon that.
